Since graduating from the Academia de Artes Plásticas
San Alejandro in Havana in 1990, Kcho (Alexis Leyva) has produced
an impressive oeuvre. Known internationally for his large-scale, site-specific
installations, Kcho is also and excellent draftsman, creating both
paintings and drawings. Migration is a major theme in his work and
boats, oars, docks, and water are recurrent symbols. The recipient
of numerous awards, Kcho has had several significant solo shows and
his work is in collections internationally.
