Jacqueline Maggi (b. New York, 1948)

Though born in New York, Jacqueline Maggi was raised and educated in Havana where she studied art at the Instituto Superior de Arte. The artist creates paintings, drawings, and sculptures of household objects, often subverting their quotidian nature through startling combinations of media and imagery. Maggi has exhibited her work internationally and currently lives and works in Washington, D.C. where she also serves as the Chair of the Visual Art Department at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts.
